Magic on a Monday

It was a great day.  I know you might think that visiting the wine country on a Monday in the Fall is the "off-season", but the truth is winemakers and vineyards never really stop working all year long.  Thus, it's always one of the most interesting seasons to visit the wineries and check-in on their progress.  The vines have dropped their leaves in preparation for the Fall but fruit flies are still abundant....as well as various methods to try and control them.  The Fall is truly a magical time of transformation in the wine country and something you need to experience for yourself. Wine. Autumn. Love

It was great to spend a day with this lovely young couple and introduce them to the world of wine.  Plus, it was nice to chat about this unique area and why our wine (and our people) are so special.  If these two represent the future of our country then we should all sleep better at night. Building a Strong Relationship

What a nice weekend for wine tours. A great couple staying at the Allison Inn for the weekend away from the baby for the first time. Although we had overcast skies for part of the day, the rain stayed away and the sun warmed our skin for a moment or two. Overall, the weekend was filled with good people drinking lovely wine, building stronger relationships and making great memories. Isn't that how it should be? Birthday and Family

What could be a better way to celebrate a significant birthday than in the wine country with your family?  Minnesota, Colorado, and Portland got together on this overcast day for some family time and to learn more about the Willamette Valley.  With good wine, a great lunch and lots of laughs, I would call this day a success!  Thank you for making me part of your extended family, and happy birthday!  Below is our favorite photo from this tour.  Your entire album can be found here so you can download or share your memories on social media with just one click.

Hey Sister Sister

Before the next storm rolls in, we had a break in the weather with partly cloudy skies and no rain.  Two sisters, one local and one from Colorado, getting together to catch up and reconnect.  It was a graceful, peaceful and joyous day....here's to watching a family connect!  I look forward to our next tour and helping you learn more about the wonderful wine regions in our area. Below is our favorite photo from this tour.  Your entire album can be found here so you can download or share your memories on social media with just one click.

The Heat with the Sweet

One of the amazing benefits of my profession is getting to meet and spend time with some wonderful people.  Today, when chatting about food and wine pairing, I was told to "balance the heat with the sweet".  Isn't that great?  She was from Minnesota and he (at age 84) is from California.  It was a very wet day but still very bright with these sunny personalities!  Below is our favorite photo from this tour.  Your entire album can be found here so you can download or share your memories on social media with just one click.

Denver & Portland on a Wet Day

Today was a nice day.  A very wet day in the Willamette Valley, but a nice day.  I had two wonderful couples....one from Portland who wanted to learn more about the wine in our "backyard" and another visiting from Denver.  All four were charming and it was my pleasure to meet and spend the day with them.  Our activities today included tasting some lovely and sweet Pinot Gris from a stainless tank which has fermented for only a week as well as an up-close inspection of some partial whole-cluster fully fermented Pinot Noir in its vat.  My tours remind me of school trips taken when I was younger and you get the chance to see, touch and taste all kinds of new things.  It really is a wonderful experience.  Below is our favorite photo from this tour.  Your entire album can be found here so you can download or share your memories on social media with just one click.

New York, Friends & Photos

Today was a wet day.  A wonderful day, but very wet.  I was optimistic the rain would blow over this morning and leave us with cloudy skies, but it just kept raining.  The clouds hung low today in the valley, settling in around 900 feet.  It almost felt like heavy fog with limited visibility.  Very interesting.  The tour today included a lovely couple from New York and two friends who made the day even more special, including Kathryn Elsesser, the amazing photographer whose images have graced the cover of Oregon Wine Press many times.  We had fun today "getting personal about wine" and making new friends.  Below is our favorite photo from this tour.  Your entire album can be found here so you can download or share your memories on social media with just one click.

Daddy, Daughter, New York and Friends

Today reminded me how much my tours are family-friendly.  What better way to bond with family and friends than with wine!  It was also great to hear a New York accent all day too.  If you enjoy wine and want to learn more about the viticulture and viniculture then you've come to the right place.  Another great day.  A little cool this morning with light rain which blew off by early afternoon sunshine and beautiful white puffy clouds. Below is our favorite photo from this tour.  Your entire album can be found here so you can download or share your memories on social media with just one click.

Texas is Alive!

Texas is alive in Portland with these fiery gals.  They were wonderful...great smiles along with that true Texas spirit.  Oh, and the accents....loved it.  Best friends for 40 years!  One of them has a daughter getting married soon at a winery in Dundee Hills so this was her chance to take some "mommy me time".  It was an honor to introduce them to the entire Willamette Valley region and how their venue choice is perfect.  My job is cool!  I teach others about wine, I get to share my "backyard" and I introduce people to my friends who produce this amazing fermented fruit.  Below is our favorite photo from this tour.  Your entire album can be found here so you can download or share your memories on social media with just one click.
