It was an extraordinary day in the Valley with these four friends who gather annually to make new memories. Vintage variation is really about weather during the harvest season. It’s a factor, some say the biggest factor, in determining what critics call a good or bad year for wine. In the Willamette Valley, our AVAs have microclimates, and ancient geology, and a very finicky grape that make the assessment of a good or bad wine year a bit difficult to sum up with just weather. Today, we got to taste the diversity of pinot noir not only in AVA but in vintage, from 2008 to 2016, in a remarkably special outing. Click on the collage for a link to more photos.
